bullet  Marriage Notes:

Sarah Ann is the "Aunt Annie" who is referred to in Myrtis Evans' letters to Julia Lesh. Charles and Annie are both buried in Sheets Cemetery, Illinois.

Lived on Sec. 9 of Essex twp. Charles b. on NE 1/4 of same section. (the SW1/4 was originally military tract land. These military tract lands were given to War of 1812 soldiers, and almost all were sold to land speculators except this tract, which belonged to Jarville Chaffee, who came from Michigan to build is house there in 1834 until he died in 1846; Old Settlers book mentions that this land "now" belongs to the Charles Henry Cox estate. All this info is from that book, Vol. IV, p. 88.

Sarah had 11 children, 9 of whom were living in 1900.

They moved to their "present" farm in the November after they married, but lived in the old house till 1879, they then built a new home. Sarah's obit says that they "began housekeeping on his farm near Wyoming, later moving to the Joseph Cox homestead which they continued to operate until his death on August 18, 1906."

1900 census, Illinois, Stark co., Essex twp: also showed John Updyke, Day laborer, in the household. He was a "hand", white male, b. Feb. 1870, 30 years old, single, b. Illinois, both parents born Illinois.
