Lincoln and Bettie (Pickering) Adams
Lincoln Adams was born 4 Jul 1854 in Stephenson co., Illinois. In 1896, he relocated to Waterman twp., O'Brien co., Iowa, where his father had purchased a 160 acre farm for him. While in O'Brien co., he married Bettie Pickering, daughter of William and Hulda (Stanley) Pickering. Bettie was born 2 Aug 1874 in O'Brien co. Two years after their marriage, he rented out his farm in Waterman twp. to return to his father's farm, working there until 1901, when he returned to his own farm. The following year, his parents removed to O'Brien county as well. About 1921, Lincoln and Bettie moved to town, where Lincoln was employed in some vocation other than farming. He was active in the Ancient and Free and Accepted Masons, the Brotherhood of American Yeomen and the Modern Woodmen of America. On 5 Oct 1939, Lincoln died at the age of 74, in Sutherland, and was buried at Waterman cemetery. Bettie Pickering Adams died on 7 Sep 1963 in Primghar, Iowa, at the age of 89. She was buried at Waterman cemetery with her husband.
