Morace Adams was born on 20 Nov 1858 in Florence twp., Stephenson co., Illinois to John Q. and Julia (Van Brocklin) Adams. In 1880, at the age of 22, he began farming in Grundy Center, Iowa, and his brother Oscar joined him the following year.
On 4 Sep 1883, he married Minnie Heine in Stephenson co., Illinois, and they had one daughter, Mabel. Minnie died on 3 May 1887, and Morace married Cora Ellen Stockwell on 5 Nov 1895 in Sutherland. They had four children: Beryl, Gladys, Vernon (who died as a child in 1907) and Erma. Cora passed away on 8 Feb 1912 in Sutherland.
During these years, Morace worked as a laborer in Waterman twp., possibly on a farm, though he lived in town. About 1909, he and his family moved to Draper, Jones co., South Dakota, although they show up in the 1910 census in Lyman county. They moved back to Sutherland in November of 1911. He worked as a salesman in a lumber yard. In 1925, his youngest daughter Erma, her husband and young daughter and son lived with him in Sutherland.
He had a heart attack on New Year's Day in 1937, and rallied back from it, but had another on 11 Jul, from which he died the next day, in Sutherland, at age 78, and is buried in Waterman Cemetery.
