Adams Family History









James H. Adams was born in June of 1712, just 7 months before the death of his father Daniel. He was just 12 when his mother passed away. By the time James was 18 months old, he had already inherited land from his father as well as his grandfather.


He married Sarah Callender, daughter of Phillip and Mary (Eaton) Callender on 08 Dec 1736 at Sheffield, Massachusetts, where they lived at least until 1742.  By 1747, when their youngest child Aaron was born, they were living at Canaan, CT.

James died in 1787 at Tinmouth, VT at the age of 74. He is buried at Cramton Cemetery at Tinmouth. His wife Sarah preceded him in death and is also buried at Cramton Cemetery.

4) Joseph Adams, 1739-?

5) Amos Adams, 1742-?

6) Aaron Adams, 1747-1833

Their stone reads:  "In memory of Mr. James Adams and Sarah his wife  He departed this life May 22d 1787 Aged 74 years  She departed this life August 25th 1785 Aged 69 years.  In this place friends to honesty integrity & uprightness may drop a tear."
