Sixth Generation

144. Marcella Maria SEEMANN was born on 7 Apr 1902 in Freeport, Stephenson co., Illinois, the oldest child of Carl A. and Martha E. (APEL) SEEMANN.  By 1905, the family had moved to Oshkosh, Winnebago co., Wisconsin, where her father, a physician, established a medical practice.  When she was about eight years old, her father moved his practice to Tulare, Spink co., South Dakota, with the rest of the family joining him the following spring.

Marcella was a nurse, and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. 

In 1954, at the time of her father's death, she was living in Miller, Hand co., South Dakota, and took care of her mother in her widowhood.

She married her cousin, Frederick A. SEEMANN on 21 Dec 1971, in Folkston, Charlton co., Georgia.  Frederick was the son of Dr. Fred and Alta (SHEPHERD) SEEMANN, and was born 16 Aug 1898.  He also served in the military during World War II, in the U. S. Navy.

After their retirement, moved to Redfield, Spink co., South Dakota. 

It was here that Frederick Seemann died on 26 Mar, 1982, at age 83.  Marcella died on 9 Sep 1989 at the age of 87, and is buried at Tulare Cemetery, Tulare, Spink co., South Dakota.
