Fourth Generation

55. Henry SEEMANN was born on 25 May 1828, the son of John Henry and Anna Maria "Mary" SEEMANN.  He immigrated from Germany on 22 Sep 1854, at the age of 25 with his parents and younger brother.    He purchased a 40 acre farm on 22 Nov 1858 in Jackson co., Iowa.

Henry married Catharina REHMKE in Sabula, Jackson co., Iowa.  She was born about Jun 1832.  They farmed in Jackson co., Iowa.  In 1890, their barn was hit by lightning and destroyed.

"Henry Seeman of Spragueville, was in the city Monday and reports that his barn was struck by lightning

on the evening of the 7th last, and quite badly wrecked. The building was insured."



Catharina died 21 Feb 1895, from heart failure, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Jackson co.  Henry died 19 May 1914 in Spragueville, Jackson co.  He was also buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
