Sixth Generation


136. Lloyd Grant SEEMAN was born on 5 Aug 1890 in Thurman, Arapahoe co., Colorado, to Henry Jesse and Eva (ADAMS) SEEMAN.   By the age of six he was living with his family in Freeport, Illinois, and from there Dubuque, Iowa and South Dakota.  In 1904 his family settled in Rockham, Faulk co., South Dakota, and here he lived out the rest of his life.  He worked as a carpenter, ran a dairy business, and also served as a rural mail carrier for 30 years in Faulk county. 

He served his country in World War I, as a sergeant in the 102 Ord Depot Co., and afterwards, with brother Earl, and step-brothers Milford and Newell Kennedy, were among the local veterans who were charter members of the John J. Tomson American Legion Post 57 of Rockham, South Dakota. 

Lloyd Grant SEEMAN and Eldora "Dora" Marie ERICKSON were married on 11 Feb 1921 in Rockham, Faulk co., South Dakota. Dora was a local teacher, born on 27 Feb 1899, at St. James, Watonwan co., Minnesota, and was the daughter of Charles and Emma ERICKSON.  Charles ran the local lumberyard, and supervised the construction of the Rockham Public School building. 

Lloyd suffered a stroke and died on 21 Oct 1950 at Baldwin Hospital, Redfield, Spink co., South Dakota.  He was buried at Rockham Grace cemetery.  Dora died 28 Feb 1977 at Faulkton, Faulk co., South Dakota.  She was buried next to her husband at Rockham Grace cemetery.

Newell Everett SEEMAN was born on 30 Nov 1924 in Rockham, Faulk co., South Dakota.  He served in World War II, doing two tours of duty with the U. S. Army, and was a rural mail carrier and carpenter.  He died on 6 Apr 2001 in Aberdeen, Brown co., South Dakota. and was buried on 13 Apr 2001 in Rockham Grace Cemetery.

Marion Eleanor SEEMAN was born on 28 Aug 1934 in Redfield, Spink co., South Dakota.  She married Perry Weideman on 27 Aug 1956, at Elko, Elko co., Nevada.   She died of pancreatic cancer on 14 Nov 1983 in Aberdeen, Brown co., South Dakota.  She was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, South Dakota.
