BBQ Sauce - Walt Hammer

BBQ Sauce

 

1/2 C. brown sugar

1/4 C. apple cider vinegar

1 tsp. celery seed

1 tsp. chili powder

1 can tomato soup

 

Mix ingredients.

 

 


Salsa

 

3 Qts. chopped and peeled tomatoes

3 C. chopped celery

2 C. chopped onion

1 C. chopped green pepper

1 small can jalapeno pepper

1/4 C. salt

1 1/2 C. white sugar

1 1/2 tsp. mixed pickling spice

1 C. white vinegar

1/2 tsp. pepper

1 1/4 C. brown sugar

 

Combine tomatoes, celery, onion, green pepper, jalapenos and salt. Let stand overnight in fridge.  Drain in colander, do not press vegetables.  Place in large kettle, add white sugar, brown sugar, pepper and vinegar.  Place pickling spice in a cheesecloth square, tie shut and put in with vegetables.  Bring to a boil.  Simmer 45 minutes.  Remove pickling spice.  Pack in hot jars and seal in a boiling water bath.  Makes 10-11 pints.
