Brown Sugar Frosting

 

1/3 C. Crisco

2 1/2 C. sifted powdered sugar

4 T. hot milk

1 tsp. vanilla

 

Mix the above ingredients and set aside.

 

2 C. brown sugar

1 T. Crisco

1 T. corn syrup

1/2 C. milk

 

Mix and boil the above ingredients until it forms a ball in cold water.  Remove from heat and beat until cool.  Then pour over the ingredients first prepared and set aside.  Cream until smooth, and spread on cake.

 


 

Filling for Chocolate Cake:

 

1 C. sugar

1/3 C. flour

2 eggs, well beaten

2 C. milk

1 tsp. vanilla

 


 

Seven Minute Frosting

 

2 unbeaten egg whites

1 1/2 C. sugar

2 tsp. light corn syrup OR 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

1/3 C. cold water

Dash salt

1 tsp. vanilla

1/8 tsp. lemon extract

few drops of yellow food coloring

 

Place all ingredients except flavorings in the top of a double boiler; beat 1 minute with electric beater to blend.  Place over boiling water and cook, beating constantly, till frosting forms stiff peaks, about 7 minutes (don't overcook).  Remove from boiling water and pour frosting into mixing bowl.  Add flavorings, and beat till of spreading consistency, about 2 minutes.  Tint with a few drops of coloring.

 


 

Orange Frosting

 

1/2 C. powdered sugar

3 T. orange juice

 

Mix.


Decorator Frosting

 

1 lb powdered sugar

1/2 C. Crisco shortening

1/4 C. cold water

1 tsp. almond flavoring

1/2 tsp. butter flavoring

 

Combine all ingredients and beat well.

 


 

Minute Fudge Frosting

 

1 C. sugar

1/4 C. butter

1/4 C. milk

1/4 C. cocoa

1 tsp. vanilla

 

Mix sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa well, bring to a boil and keep at a rolling boil for 1 minute.  Cool  Beat, add vanilla.  Spread on cake.
